One of my all time favorite marketing expressions is... "the money is in the metrics". Or another way to put it is... "the money is in the math". This is because marketing with metrics isn't any better than gambling, or guessing, or "hope" marketing where you just throw a bunch of stuff out there and see what works (most stuff won't!) This is why one of the single most important elements to marketing success is identifying and then laser focusing in on the RIGHT marketing metrics rather than letting yourself get distracted on inconsequential (whoa big word!) or otherwise unimportant numbers. Because when it comes to digital marketing analytics and metrics there's the stuff that may make you feel good for a minute or two (things like "likes", "comments", and "shares") but won't actually make you any real money. Which leads me to my final favorite marketing expression of the day... "you can't feed your kids with 'likes'"
